General Macarthur to Sell Portion of Jap Fleet as Scrap
Washington, Sept. 29. The Army has announced that General Macarthur has been authorised to sell part of the United States share of the former Japanese fleet as scrap. The sale, which will be held in Japan, will comprise two destroyers, ten destroyer escorts and six auxiliary craft. Purchasers need not be United States citizens, but must agree to ship the scrap to the United States.
