TRUMAN TO SEEK STOP-GAP FINANCIAL AID FOR EUROPE
Recd. 10 p.m. Washington, Sept. 28 A high-ranking White House official declared that President Truman, at a conference tomorrow, will ask Republican and Democratic leaders ox the Senate and House of Representatives to agree to a plan under which between 500,000,000 and 750,000,000 dollars will be furnished by Federal agencies, notably the ExportImport Bank and the Commodity Credit Corporation, to provide stopgap financial aid lor Europe between now and the end of January. The official said that if agreement should be reached on this proposal a special session of Congress would not be necessary. If, however, no such agreement was reached tne question of calling a special session would be “wide open.”
