PERSIA READY TO REJECT THE RUSSIAN OIL PROPOSALS
DIFFICULT TO CO-OPERATE WITH “POWERFUL NATION” Recd. 11.5 p.m. Teheran, Sept. 29 The Persian Government is ready to reject the Russian oil proposals and place complete faith in the guarantees of the Teheran Conference agreement, the Atlantic Charter and U.N.0., said the Director of Propaganda, Ibrahim Khajeh Noori, in a broadcast. Noon, who is regarded as the Prime Minister’s spokesman, denied that he was speaking for the Prime Minister. 'Persia is faced with panic and fear for two reasons. Firstly, Persia does not wish to cause the smallest offence to America because we owe the guarantee of our independence to Mr. Roosevelt and the Americans. Persians never forget favours. Secondly, now that Persia knows the world situation very clearly, it is very difficult for us to co-operate with a verypowerful nation" The Associated Press says listeners accepted the reference to “a very powerful nation” as meaning the Soviet Union.
