PRESBYTERIANISM 100 YEARS OLD IN AUCKLAND PROVINCE
(P.A.) Auckland, May, 4. Marking the foundation of Presbyterianism in Auckland province and the completion of the first 100 years in the history of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Auckland, a centennial service was held at the church in Lower Symond Street this morning. It was conducted by the Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church in New Zealand, the Right Rev. H. Davies, who was assisted by the Minister in charge, Rev. D. N. Pryer. The first lesson was read by the Governor-General, Sir Bernard Freyberg, V.C., who also unveiled the centenial memorial in the church ti its Scottish founders. He was accompanied by Lady Freyberg. The Mayor of Auckland, Mr. J. A. C. Allum, read the second lesson. Before the unveiling ceremony a short address was given by the Prime Minister, Mr. Fraser When Sir Bernard and his party arid Mr. Fraser entered the church they did so through a guard of honour of pipers who provided suitable music.
