N.Z. EIGHTS TO BE ROWED ON THE WANGANUI RIVER
RGATTA ON NEW COURSE NEAR PICTON
(P.A.) Wellington, Oct. 31 Tieton will be the scene of the amateur rowing association's regatta on February 15, 1947. The new course, not far from Picton, has been laid out to international standards and boats from eight, rowing centres will participate.
This was agreed upon at a meeting of the New Zealand Amateur Rowing Association to-day, when Mr. Hale, the Marlborough representative, said the course already had been surveyed and all arrangements made. The yearly interprovincial championships for eight-oared boats will be held on the Wanganui River on April 5.
Officers for the 1946-47 season were elected as follows: President. Mr. A. A. Whiting; vice-presidents, Messrs. A. Webster and A. Kirk: council, Messrs. A. D. Bayfield, M. A. Turner, C. R. Reisop, F. G. Oborn, C. E. Bridge, A. G. Coekroft, A. Ross; secretary and treasurer, Mr. S. I. Kidd; auditor, Mr. W. S. Wheeler; trustees, Messrs. J. G. Duncan, A. D. Bayfield and A. G. Coekroft.
