VALUES AT WESTFIELD
(P.A.) Auckland, Oct. 30 Beef was penned in less than average numbers at the fat stock sale at Westfield, when there was a keen demand. Values improved on last week s sale, and the auctioneers reported that quotations were better by Is per lUOlbs. An average supply of sheep was penned and sold to steady competition, there being little or no alternative values. There was an average yarding of calves and prime vealers met with a keen sale, with values fully firm. The quality of the runners yarded was not up to standard, and values were lower. Plain and unfinished sorts were affected. Most of the fat pig prices remained high, although there was a larger yarding. Store pigs sold on par with other centres, and choppers were still in demand.
