Mrs. G. S. Morgan, Wellington, is the guest of Mrs. V. B. Willis, College Street.
Mrs. A. J. Vernon, of Invercargill, is the guest of Mrs. V/. Martin, Oakland Avenue, St. John's Hill.
Miss Pat Brooking and Miss Isla Strachan spent a week-end leave from the Palmerston North Public Hospital in Wanganui.
Mis. A. Duigan, Wanganui, accompanied by her sister, Mrs. J. Page, Mt. Jloskill, are visiting Wellington, prior to the latter’s return to Auckland next Saturday.
Dancing Examinations. The Royal Academy dancing examinations have commenced in Wellington. The examiner is Mrs. Freda Grant, who has been conducting examinations in South Africa. During her stay in New Zealand, Mis. Grant will introduce the Royal Academy's new dancing syllabus for teachers, designed to fit 'dancing into the background of the child’s general education.
VV.G.C.O.G.A. Member l-’arewelled. Members of the committee of the Wanganui Girls’ College Old Girls’ Association entertained Miss Jean Horsley at an afternoon tea party at the Kiosk, Virginia Lake, on Saturday afternoon. Miss Horsley is leaving for Wellington to take a course of Karltane training . An enjoyable afternoon was spent by the fifteen mem. bers present. Good wishes were expressed to the guest of honour by the president, Miss Margaret Hanson, and other members of the committee.
Play Presented. • On Thursday evening, in the club rooms of the League for the Hard of Hearing, the Westmere Women’s Institute repeated “Druid Ring,” the play which won the senior section of the Drama Festival. Hard of Hearing members greatly enjoyed the per. formance, and were very grateful for the Institute’s courtesy and trouble.
Queen at W.I. Conference. Her Majesty the Queen recently visited a conference of women’s institutes held in the Albert Hall, London —the first conference since peace was declared. There were more than 5000 delegates present. The Queen, whose visit was a well-kept secret, entered wearing the institute badge and joined the vast audience in singing the institute song. She then made her longest speech of the year. The Queen and Queen Mary are joint presidents of the Sandringham Institute, and Princess Elizabeth is also a member.
