ST. JOHN’S CLUB
A perfect day marked the opening of the St. John’s Bowling Club’s season. The president, Mr. C. Bates, extended a welcome to all and hoped new members would enjoy their association with the St. John’s Club. He made reference to the passing of two old respected members of the club, Messrs. G. R. Simpson and F. Delves and a minute's silence was observed in memory, Mr. Simpson was the first secretary of the club, an office he held for 10 years. The trophies were presented to winners of last season's competitions and also the winners of the winter competitions. Mrs. Bates put up the kitty and the first bowl, alter which the season was declared open for play. The annual president and vice-presi-dent was played, resulting in a win for the president, by 249 to 242, as follows, the president's teams being given first in each instance:— Congreve, R. H.
