DRIVER KILLED WHEN TRUCK LEAVES ROAD

(P.A.) Auckland, Oct. 3.

The driver of a light motor truck was killed when the vehicle failed to negotiate an acute bend near the Puni Hall, on the Pukekohe-Puni road, this afternoon. The victim was Manuel Law'rence Silva, aged 24, single, Soldiers’ Settlement, Te Puni.

William Forbes, aged 22, married, brother-in-law of the driver, was admitted to hospital with a broken arm. A second passenger received shock and was given attention at Puni. The truck, which was owned by Silva, was following the PukekoheWaiuku bus, on which his mother was travelling. Silva intended to pick up his mother at the stop at Puni and drive her home.
