JOCKEY INJURED

When Pen wilt fell and broke, his neck in the Kennels Steeplechase, the first event at the Manawatu Hunt Club’s meeting at Awapuni on Saturday, his rider, the successful cross-country horseman, W. Jenkins, received injuries which necessitated his removal, unconscious, to lhe Palmerston North Hospital. He later regained consciousness, and yesterday an X-ray examination of the dorsal region, the upper spinal column, revealed that he had received injuries to the spinal cord which were regarded with considerable anxiety, Jenkins a fortnight earlier had von the .Metropolitan Steeplechase at Awapuni on Red G’are.
