FAVOURIfES BEAitN IN ASCOT THOUSAND Recd. 7.30 p.m. Melbourne, July 21. Favourites were out of the running when the leaders passed the post in the Ascot Thousand at Mentone yesterday. The winner, Valline, who scored handily, paid the biggest dividend of the day. New Zealand horses did well at the meeting, Glenfern winning lhe first division of the Heatherbrae Handicap and Stenelaus the Lincolnshire Handicap.
