FUNERAL OF LATE MR. C. L. BOURKE

MANY MOURNERS PRESENT. ’Tile funeral of the late Mr. Charles Lawrence Bourke, who was killed wi.fle deer stalking in the Taihape district last Saturday, took place at Taihape yesterday. A very large number of mourners attended, the cortege consist.ng of about 50 ears. A number of Wanganui residents, including some of Mr. Bourke's former colleagues in the police force while he was stationed here, went to Taihape for the funeral. Many beautiful floral tributes testified to the esteem in which the deceasea was held in the Wanganui and Taihape districts. A service at St. Margaret’s Anglican Church, Taihape, cjnuucted by the Rev. W. M. Small<ieid. was also largely attended. The funeral was one of the biggest seen in Taihape for some time. The nait bearers were Messrs K. and P. Bourke, H. Gregory, R. W. Cross, R. T Hughes and W. Robinson.
