MEAL ALLOWANCE FOR FEEMALES
AUCKLAND DECISION (P.A.) Auckland, Dec. 19.. A decision that their new*award entitles Auckland firemen to receive an allowance of 2s a meal while they are relieving at. out. stations has been given by the industrial magistrate, Mr. J. A. Gilmour. The award came into force on November 12, but. because it held some doubts regarding the relevant clause, the Auckland Metropolitan Fire Board withheld payment of the new meal allowance until an interpretation had been obtained. In the meantime the former meal allowance, of 3s a day, was paid Io the men required for rewlieving at stations other than the one at which they were normally employed.
