GERMANS AND FINNS

STATE OF WAR NOW EXISTS Recd. 6 p.m. London, Sept. 18. The Finnish Press declared last night that a state of war existed between Finland and Germany, says Reuter’s Stockholm correspondent. A formal declaration of war may come almost without notice. Finnish sources in Stockholm report that two brigades of Finns are in action against the Germans in northern Finland. It is officially announced in Helsinki that the Germans are burning numerous small towns and farms as they withdraw from east and central Finland. They burned down the monastery at Suomasslami.
