NAVAL BOARD’S THANKS

GIFTS FROM RANGITIKEI NAVY LEAGUE (0.C.) Marton, June 25. The Naval Board's appreciation of the action of the Rangitikei branch of the Navy League in sending gifts to the personnel of H.M.N.Z.S. Philomel was expressed in a letter from the Naval Secretary and read at the recent annual meeting of the branch. The letter stated:— “I have to inform you that the Naval Board have reeived from the commanding officer, H.M.N.Z.S. Philomel, a letter conveying the strong appreciation of that officer for the gifts which, during the past two and a-half years, the Rangitikei branch of the Navy League have forwarded to H.M.N.Z.S. Philomel. In addition to the numerous cases mentioned as received by the commanding officer, H.M.N.Z.S. Philomel, other consignments have been received and distributed in this office. It is realised ‘hat the Rangitikei branch of the Navy League is a comparatively small branch and. for this reason, the quantity and quality of the gifts so kindly forwarded reflect great credit on the activities and thoughtfulness of your branch. I am asked, therefore, to convey to you the gratitude of the Naval Board for the good work you have done and to wish you success in your further activities.
