W.C.T.U. Meeting The monthly meeting of the Wanganui East branch 01 tne W.C.T.U. was held in St. Alban’s Hall on March 11. Mrs. Hoare opened with a snort prayer and scripture reading. Mrs. Bloor, correspondence secretary, read a letter received from Mrs. Grigg, M.P., and Mrs. Ogier read the report of the previous meeting of the L.T.L. A very interesting and instructive talk was given by a returned member of the W.W.A.C. from the Middle East. The meeting came to a close with a dainty afternoon tea. Army Relations Mrs. W. J. Robinson gave a short talk on Inuia, describing in detail Bombay, at tne monthly meeting of the Army Relations, held on Monday in Christ Churcn Parish Hail. Tne president, Mrs. H. G. Horsley, presided, and the meeting opened with the National Anthem, followed oy the Army Hymn and a silent prayer. Mrs. Horsley said the response lotfood for the A.N.A. Club nad been satisfactory. An appeal was made for gifts for the i.M.C.A. tea on Marcn 28. Leiters were received turn Wanganui men serving overseas expressing thanks for parcels received. the tea hostesses were Mesdames A. Hurst, E. B. Cooke, M. Smiley, and W. T. Benefield. Mesdames J. Durie and T. Russell were door hostesses, and Mesdames E. M. Tutty and J. Goss were in change of a produce stall, the money from which will be spent on soldiers’ parcels.
