GIFT OF TOBACCO

SOLDIER’S APPRECIATION (0.C.) Marton, March 11. Appreciation of a parcel of tobacco sent to him recently by the Marton Bowling Club was expressed by Corporal R. F. A. McKenzie, in a letter received from overseas by the president, Mr. A. Way. Corporal McKenzie said tobacco was sometimes difficult to procure when soldiers were on the move. "It is just over a year since I had a game of bowls,” he added. “In one locality the residents were very good and wanted four of us to visit their green every Thursday afternoon. I was usually beaten by a namesake from Scotland. Greens I have played on over here are usually well watered and consequently are on the heavy side."
