NAVY FIGHTS AXIS SHIPS Rugby, Dec. 31. The Admiralty announced: "Early to-day our ships made contact with an enemy force in northern waters. “During the ensuing engagement an enemy cruiser was damaged and. withdrew. An enemy destroyer was severely hit, and when last seen was in a sinking condition. “The operations continue.”—B.O.W.
