STATE OWNERSHIP

COLLIERY TAKEN OVER BY BRITAIN Rugby, Dec. 28. The British Government, has for the first time taken over the ownership and management of a colliery. This was announced at a meeting of the North Regional Coal Board today when it was stated that the Government was taking over under the defence regulations the whole issued shares of the Nottingham and Clifton Colliery Company, Limited, and the shares would be vested in nominees of the Ministry of Fuel. Shares in the company are to be paid for on the basis of their value on November 4. 8.0.W.
