LOYALTY TO BRITISH AFFIRMED (Recd. 9.30 p.mJ Cairo. April 22. i Winding up a two-day Chamber debate. the Premier, Xahas Pasha, reaffirmed that the basis of Egypt’s foreign policy was to avoid war. Nevertheless the Government would take strong action for the safety oi British troops and theii Allies while thy were on Egyptian soil to defend democracy. Nahas Pasha said: "I will neverj take any action calculated to lead! Egypt to war, nor will 1 provide the: Allied armies with Egyptian man-| power. Nevertheless I remain loyal toj the British-Egyptian Treaty, both in letter and spirit. Nor will I toleratej any action by an Egyptian which] would in any way endanger the military security of our Ally or cause anxiety to those who are now fighting for the very existence of democracy and freedom. That is my policy. 1 want our ally to know this.” The Chamber passed a vote of com fldence in the Government by 185 votes to 5.
