DECORATED AND PROMOTED BY PRESIDENT (Recd. 5.5.> Washington. April 21. President Roosevelt personally presented the Congressional Medal of Honour tn Lieutenant Edward O'Hare, who alone and unaided shot down, five Japanese bombers and damaged a sixth in five minutes on February 20. Mr. Roosevelt also promoted Lieut. O’Hare to Lieu enant-Commander. The citation said: As a result of nis gallant act. one of the most daring, if not the most daring, single actions in the history of combat aviation. Lieut. O'Hare undoubtedly saved his carrier from serious damage.
