“ISOLATED INCIDENT”

L. | Ralston, said corrective action was ’ being taken regarding an Isolated In- I cident in which 400 soldiers walked off * a shin when embarking for England i in protest against the rations and the ■ quarters. Col. Ralston said the conditions • aboard this ship were not up to the | standard of most troopships, but . expressed confidence that there were would be no excuse for a repetition. The ship was later reaching port, and conseouently there was insufficient time to clear. After inspection the embarkation authorities decided f o *edure the number aboard bv 200 per cent, but a number were still dissatisfied and about 135 failed to sail.
