COURT OF ARBITRATION
(P.A.) Christchurch, April 21.| Concern expressed by the executive; of the Associated Chambers ot Com merce at the decision of the Kedera-, tion of Labour conference to suppori a recommendation that the Govern- • ment legislate to make decisions of the; Court of Arbitration final and not subject to appeal to other Courts is, shown in a letter from the executive ; to the Prime Minister, a copy of which! has been received by the Canterbury; Chamber. x "It appeared,” the letter stated, "that the decisions of the conference were actuated bv certain rulings of Magistrate's and Supreme Courts, which appeared to the federation to be adverse to the interests of workers. We cannot refrain,” it said, "from commenting on the short-sightedness of such a view. It may well be that other decisions by the Court of Arbitration may favour the employers, and if the recommendation made by the federation were carried into effect workers wouid be deprived, at their own request, 01 that right of appeal to a higher tribunal which is a fundamental and inseparable part of our svstem of British justice.”
