It was decided to write again and ask if passengers on vehicles used for E.P.S. work would .be covered with insurance. Mr. W. Tupito Maluera wrote asking for payment of royalty on gravel taken from his property at Pariroa and also for payment of £2 5s for repairs to the bridge. ’ 1 any liability with regard to the bridge, for the necessary timbers were supplied on condition that Mr. Tupito agreed to do the repair work. The Waitotara Lime Company wrote tha: permission to take metal from Annabel!’* pit had been withdrawn. The Labourers’ Union wrote asking the council not to interpret in an arbitrary manner the law regarding work in the wet weather. Attention was drawn b« the Patea Chamber of Commerce to the dangerous position of power poles on Portland Quay. It wa> decided to refer the matter to the South Taranaki Elec-tric-power B F. P. Duncan Waverley. gave a list of requirements for the Waverk-\ branch of the E.P.S open question whether the matter was one for the Hospital Board or the council. The petition should be clarified without -lav. Several circulars were read bv the clerk on hospital equinm nt. which appeared to the council to i♦ • of a contradictory nature. PATEA HOSPITAL BOARD A committee to deal with air raid shelters was appointed at a meeting of the Patea Hospit ‘ I mittee will consist the chairman. Mr. intendent. Dr. W T. Simmons. Mr. A. J. Gi - i Mrs A. Carey vere appointed to represent the board on the E.P.S. committee. It was decided that the erection of a room for th*' sterilising plant be added to capital expenditure proposals. The resignation of Matron Harris was received. It was decided that applications be r invited foi the position of matron. the hospiial at the beginning of March numbered 50. Mr. T. Parkinson, who was elected representative of the Waverley Town Board in place of Mr. Heginbotham (who had resigned) was welcomed.
