MILITARY DEFAULTER. (P.A.) Wellington, March 11 “You are responsible for a lot of these young men not doing theiduty. through your propaganda, whi ■' war,” said Mr. J. L. Stout. S.M., ii the Magistrate’s Court to-day, to Michael Young, who pleaded guilty to a charge of failing to render military service. Sub-Inspector D. J. M. Hew itt said that Young had previously failed to report and had been sentenced io three months’ imprisonment. “I think there is some doubt in th“ minds of the military authorities about having this man in a defaulters’ camp.” ne said. "I am not going to take the responsibility of sending you . there.” said the magistrate to the acI cused. “I am going to convict you f and sentence you to three months’ 1 imprisonment with hard labour.” After Young had left the dock a woman interjected from the back of the Court and was ordered to leave.
