ENEMY CONVOY IN THE MEDITERRANEAN Rugby, March 10. A Royal Air Force (Middle East) communique states that a successful torpedo attack on an enemy convoy escorted by units of the Italian fleet was carried out by aircraft of the Royal Air Force in the central Mediterranean yesterday. One cruiser, a merchant vessel, and a destroyer were set on fire, and a JuBB was shot down into the sea. During Sunday night . British aircraft attacked targets at Rhodes. Piraeus, and Portolago Bay, in the island of Leros. Fighter activity in Cyrenaica was maintained yesterday'. Enemy aircraft continued to make raids on Malta. One JuBB was shot clown by fighters, which also destroyed one JuBB and two Melo9's. None of the British aircraft is missing. A Middle East war communique from Cairo states that patrol activity continued yesterday and was marked bv a considerable exchange of shellfir e.—B. O. W.
