TOWNSWOMEN S GUILD
END-Oi -YEAR GATHERING There was a largo attendance at the December meeting of the Wanganui Townswomen’s Guild, held on Thursday afternoon in the Victoria Hall, which was bright with summer flowers for the occasion. After the opening ceremony and welcome, the president. Mrs. F. Wagstaff, presented little Christmas favours to each of the officials and thanked them for their help during the year. An enjoyable programme had been arranged for the entertainment of th' l members and visitors. Songs were sung by Mrs. Gibson, elocutionary items given by Mrs. W. Froud and two plays presented by the guild drama circle. The plays, produced by Mrs. Bailey, were “World Without Men” and “Miss Primroses Deception.” In the former, for which the setting was the study of Madame Paval. a famous woman scientist, the players were Mrs. Harold Jones as Madame Pavel, and Those taking part as her four friends were Miss Horsley. Miss Fennell. Mrs. J. M. Richardson and Mrs. Hicks, and with Mrs Roy as the maid. The cast for the second play comprised Mesdames Shepherd, Gi'oson, Roy and Misses Mair and Revell.
