FINLAND’S POLICY OF HELPING HITLER

APPREHENSION OF U.S.A. I SE BEING MADE OF THE ANTI-COMINTERN PACT. (Recd. 5.5 p.m.) Washington, Nov. 29. The Secretary of State. Mr. Cordell Hull, in a statement to-day, said recent acts of the Finnish Government confirm United States apprehension that Finland is fully co-operating with Hitler's forces in th? war against the Soviet. Inferring to Finland’s recent Note, explaining why that country had not ceased hostilities, Mr. Hull said that after a full study it had not thrown light upon the question uppermost in the Government’s mind—how far, ano to what extent Finnish military policy is one of combined operations between the Germans and Finns vitally to injure Britain and her associates and to threaten the northern supply lines over which Russia is now receiving supplies and assistance from Britain and the United States. Mr. Hull criticised Finland’s signing in Berlin of the Anti-Comintern Pact, which is being used by Hitler solely as an instrument to wage war for the conquest and domination of free peoples. Therefore, Finland’s action was highly significant and cannot be camouflaged or explained away by propaganda attacks.—U.P.A.

It is announced in Rome that Italy and Finland have signed a trade agreement.
