RENTING OF HOUSES IN AUSTRALIA

NEW REGULATIONS (Recd. 5.5 p.m.) Canberra. Nov. 29. No dwelling house in New South Wales letting at less than £4 4s a week can now be let at a rent greater than that which was paid on August 31. 1939. Regulations gazetted provide that where rent has been increased since lhe wa it must immediately be reduced to the pre-war figure. The regulations will be applied immediately to New South Wales at the request of the State Government. The Federal Government hopes that the new regulations will soon operate throughout Australia.
