SPECIAL NAVAL TRAINING ESTABLISHMENT VOLUNTEERS TO BE C ALLED. i Per Press Association. ] WELLINGTON, Feb. 7. Referring to his recent announcement of the setting up of a special wartime training establishment for naval ratings on Motuihi Island, which is known as H.M.S. Tamaki the Minister of Defence, Hon. F. Jones, stated that plans for recruiting were linished and a call would be made next week for volunteers. “Successful applicants not required for service in New' Zealand ships will after training, be drafted for overseas service with the Royal Navy,” said Mr. Jones. “For single young men with a liking for the sea this scheme of recruiting presents a splendid opportunity,” he added. “Recruiting will be for seamen, signalmen, telegraphists. stokers, and cooks. Applications for the first batch will close on Saturday, February 22. 1941. Full details of how* to obtain particulars and make application will be published in the advertisements. “Naval recruiting offices are being opened at Auckland. Napier, Wellington. Christchurch, and Dunedin,” added Mr. Jones, "and intending candidates should apply to the nearest naval recruiting office at the addresses given in the advertisement.”
