RAETIHI NEWS
OPENING OF SCHOOL. Although the first school day for 1941 was wet no less than 20 new admissions were recorded at the Raetihi School on Friday. The bulk of these was in the infant department. Indications are that there are still some more children in the district to be enrolled. Staff charges were few. Mr. P. S. Pgden has received an appointment at another school. Miss G. Lewis has been appointed probationary assistant and L. M. Spence, who last year was the probationary assistant, has been appointed a supernumerary assistant. Miss Menendez, who was previously appointed additional probationary assistant, has, owing to war conditions, been given an appointment to another school. Numerically the staff is at the same strength as it was last year, but this is not expected to be so for very long. ALL PURPOSE APPEAL.
