PRODUCE FOR OVERSEAS

DELAY IN LOADING FARMERS’ UNION CONCERNED MARTON, July 31. Tuesday's meeting of the Wellington Provincial executive of the Farmers’ Union discussed the matter of the refusal of waterside workers to load a ship at Auckland during the night and members expressed concern over the apparent inability ot the Government to insist upon the work being done. It was stated that the position had not improved since the working of ships at wharves had been handed over to a commission, and the following motion was then carried unanimously:— ‘Tn view of the fact, so well known to everyone, that the speedy unhindered despatch of primary produce is of even greater importance than increased production, this executive views with disgust the state of affairs still existing on the waterfront.” It was agreed to forward the resolution to headquarters of the Farmers’ Union for transmission to the Government.
