GIFT EVENING (Own Correspondent) SANDON, July 30. There was a large number of friends at the Sandon Hall on Friday evening to honour Miss Jean Butler and Mr. A. V. Many beautiful and useful gifts were placed on the table and at a suitable interval, Mr. Ken Pearce said that both young people had taken an active part in the Tennis and Table Tennis Clubs and all other functions in the district and in wishing them the best of luck and every happiness for the future, he asked them to accept the many gifts. Mr. Matthews suitably replied. The music for the evening was willingly supplied by Mrs. E. J. Davey and Messrs C. Grace and H, McKinnon. A duet was rendered by Misses J. and N. Masters and an elocutionary item was given by Miss Dulcie Flyger. A Monte Carlo waltz was won by Mr. and Mrs. L. Staite. During supper Mr. Pearce presented Miss Butler with a scroll on which the signatures of al! those present were inscribed, there being 7'2 names m all. Before the function closed Mr. Pearce conveyed the congratulations and best wishes of those present to Miss Joyce Davey on attaining her majority. This announcement was received with musical honours. At the last meeting of the Sanson Women’s Institute, Miss Butler was also the recipient of a small present as a token of good wishes from the members of the institute, of which Miss Butler is a member.
