WAITOTARA Miss Constance Howie, Dunedin, is the guest of her aunt, Mrs. I. D. Blackie. Mrs. Gubbins, sen., Dunedin, and her brother, Mr. Wright (Clive) are the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Gubbins, junr. Mrs. E. Leahy is visiting Wellington. Mr. G. Webster (Wellington) was the guest of Mrs. I. D. Blackie for the week-end. Mrs. Dobie is visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Johansen, Palmerston North. Miss Norman Blackie, Wanganui, spent the week-end with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. I. D. Blackie. Mrs. Dazzler, Omata, has Jieeii spending a few days with Mrs. C. Hodgetts. MARTON Rev. W. B. Cuming, an A grade referee and secretary of the Rangitikei Hockey Sub-Association for the past two years, who has now left the district, was elected a life member at the annual meeting of the association on Monday night in recognition of his services to hockey. A letter of appreciation is to be forwarded to Mr. Cuming. Sympathy with Mr. T. Low, a vicepresident of the Rangitikei Hockey Sub-Association, in his serious accident in November, was expressed by members at the annual meeting of the association on Monday night. A letter is to be forwarded expressing a wish for an early recovery. Friends of Miss J. Cuming will be sorry to hear that she was operated on for appendicitis in the Taihape Public Hospital on Wednesday. Her condition is satisfactory. Mr. R. S. Palmer, L.L.M., who has been a member of the staff of Messrs. Christensen and Stanford, barristers and solicitors for a number of years, has been admitted as a member of the firm and the name of the new firm will now be Christensen, Stanford and Palmer. Mr. J. Brice, treasurer of the Marton Jockey Club, was accorded a hearty welcome by the chairman (Mr. H. McManaway) at its committee meeting on Thursday evening, who remarked that they were all pleased to see him in his usual place at the table. PATEA Mrs. A. Parkin, who has been visiting her sister, Mrs. Smiles, of Patea, has returned to her home in Wanganui. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Moore, Carlyle, have motored to Wellington to visit the Centennial Exhibition. Mr. and Mrs. F. Fitzsimmons have left Patea on a vacation, which will be spent touring the Wairarapa and Wellington districts. Mr. and Mrs. J. Jackson are visiting the Centennial Exhibition. Mrs. Hocken, who has been visiting her daughter, Mrs. R. Burgess, Carlyle, has returned to her home in Feilding. Mrs. L. Adams has left for Wellington. WAVERLEY Miss E. Rounwaithe, who has been holidaying in Christchurch, has returned to Waverley. Miss Sheila Middleton has returned to Hamilton from a short holiday in Waverley. Mr. W. G. Belton is spending a holiday in the South Island. Mr. and Mrs. G. McGregor have returned to Waverley. Dr. Padget, Wellington, was the guest of Mrs. W. R. S. Brewer, “Waihau,” recently. Mrs. Belton, sen., Wellington, is visiting Waverley as the guest of Mrs. F. Bilton. Miss Margret Holmes, who spent a holiday at Ashburton and Wellington, has returned. Mrs. D. Lupton, who has been visiting Eltham, has returned to Waverley. Mrs. E. Kenny, Waverley, is on a motor tour of the North of Auckland district. Mrs. G. Johnston is a Waverley visitor to Wellington. Mrs. H. L. Thomas is visiting Nelson, where she will stay with relations. Mr. and Mrs. E. Dickie have returned to Waverley.
