RANGITIKEI HOCKEY ASSOCIATION’S ANNUAL MEETING | Rangitikei Hockey Sub-Association was held Monday evening, Mr. W. G. Aitken presiding over Messrs. A. H. Wing, C. H. G. Carpenter, F. A. Davidson, J. Sutton, F. Death, W. J. Mogridge, E. J. Street, A. Gracie, and Mesdames L. Sanders, A. H. Wing, and Miss B. Edge. Teams entered were Kia Ora, Hunterville, and United (2). There is a possibility that Hunterville will enter two teams. The season is to open on Saturday, April 27, with the seven-a-side tournament at Marton for the Linkfield Rose Bowl. The competition will open the following Saturday and it was decided to limit the season to two rounds. MARTON MEN’S CLUB The annual meeting of the Marton men’s hockey club was held on Wednesday night. The attendance was satisfactory and apologies were received from Messrs. F. and R. Parkinson, T. and C. Calkin and S. Anderson. The annual report stated that the club had a very successful season, having six of their members chosen as representatives for the Feilding team. The club was runner-up in the Feilding eleven-a-side tournament, and also runner-up in the five-a-side tourney at Taihape. Five members were chosen to represent Country, which won the Barrett Shield by defeating Town. The election of officers resulted:— Patron. Mr. F. Purnell; president, Mr. T. E. RUGBY FOOTBALL MARTON TO PLAY FEILDING This afternoon the Marton Old Boys Football Club will send a junior and a senior team to Feilding to play that club in a friendly game prior to the opening of the Rangitikei competitions the following Saturday:— The Marton teams are:— Senior. —A. RED ( ROSS SHOP A Red Cross shop is being held on the third Tuesday in every month in Marton and next Tuesday will be the second effort of this kind this year. MARTON CIVIC THEATRE “THE WIZARD OF OZ’* Successfully combining for the first time adult and juvenile appeal in a motion picture fantasy, “The Wizard; of Oz” comes to the Civic Theatre j this afternoon and evening and Monday evening.
