AMATEUR ROAD CYCLING
WANGANUI CLUB’S ANNUAL MEETING ELECTION OF OFFIUESR Twenty-two races were held during the season, stated the report of the Wanganui Amateur Road Cycling Club, presented at the annual meeting this week. Successful riders were: G. Seconi, L. Gestro, I. Danielson (2), B. Cox, R. Elliot (2), W. Beswarick (2), G. Harris, H. Taylor (2), C. Jordon, W. Pidwell (2), and M. Byrnes. The club was presented bj Mr. A. W. Brown with a shield for competition under the same conditions as the Hope Gibbons Shield. Names of lire holders of cups listed in the report, are: Boomerang Cup, H. Taylor; Adamson Cup, G. Broadbent; club championship sash for fastest times, I. Danielson 1, J. Beswarick 2; Garthorne Cup, I. Danielson; Falconer Cup, I. Danielson. The Winning team for the Brown Shield was P. Foley, G. Harrison, J. Jeromson, W. Pidwell. “In the past two or three years the club has been making a name for itself in outside events and successful riders were; J. Jeromson, Kauri Brewery Challenge Cup, from the Woodville 50-mile; a team which represented Wanganui in New Plymouth in the Hope Gibbons Shield race, consisting of I. Danielson (captain), F. Brown, W. Beswarick, P. Foley, and W. Pidwell. (Each of these riders will be presented with a medal), and W. Beswarick, who gained second fastest time in the senior West Coast championship in New Plymouth, the report stated. Oliicers elected were: Patron, Mr. E. D. Bennett; president, Mr. H. Gedye; vice-presidents, Messrs. J. Glover, C. Chaney, T. Pidweil, G. Campbell; club captain, I. Danielson; vice-captain, W. Pidweil; secretary, W. Dearsley; treasurer, J. Jeromson; handicapper and starter, C. Chainey; judges, VV. Pidwell and B. Hodson; timekeeper, C. Chainey; committee, P. Foley, W. Beswarick, H. Hodson, E. Davidson, G. Sullivan, and H. Taylor; trustees for the ciub property, Messrs. H. Gedye and C. Chainey. The club decided to apply lor the senior and junior West coast road cycling championships and for the holding of the Hope Gibbons Shield contest in Wanganui. i'he first race is to be held on April 27 on the course round the Kaimatira Biock. Mr. Garfath was asked tu arrange about a dressing shed.
