WANGANUI CLUB EVENTS MATARAWA HILL CLIMB CHAMPIONSHIPS Fine weather and a tricky wind made conditions ideal for members who competed in last Saturday’s championship climb for the Toogood Rose Bowl. Fast times were registered by several of the competitors, but J. Woods, the present holder of the trophy, was once again successful in defending his title. The final placings were:—J. Woods, A. 44 4-ssec., 1; G. Hartley, A.J.S., and L. Little, A.J.S., 46.. 3-ssec., 2 equal; D. Lawrence, J.A.P., 47 2-ssec., 4. In the handicap climb, J. Inder just headed R. Mitchell, the times for this event being: J. Inder. A.J.S., 48 (4 3-5), 43 2-ssec„ 1; R. Mitchell, B. 58 4-5 (14 4-5), 44sec., 2. A set climb of one minute, which was the final event, was closely contested, R. Mitchell and A. Paul deadheating for first place with 59 l-ssec. The run-off was won by A. Paul, the times being: A. Paul, 61 l-ssec„ 1; R. Mitchell, 61 3-ssec., 2. Members are requested to obtain particulars from the secretary of the “Scavenger Hunt” to be held next Sunday. • ■- t
