ROLSTON—ELLERY
St. Andrew’s Church, Palmerston North, which had been beautified with hydrangeas by friends of the bride, was the sceen of a pretty mid.-day wedding on January 10, when Reta Alexandra, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Ellery, of Opotiki, was married to William Cecil, only son of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Rolston, of Taihape. Rev. Mr. A. Baxter performed the ceremony, and Mrs. R. Emmett presided at the organ. The bride was escorted by her father, and wore a graceful frock of ivory lace, cut on classical lines, featuring a panel which fell from the shoulders to form a train, which was i edged with satin, the same trimming | finishing the square neckline. A spray j of orange blossom was caught with a brooch of her grandmother's. The long sleeves were pointed over the hands. Her tulle veil was appliqued with satin flowers and held to her head with a halo of gardenias. An unusual touch was provided by her fan sheaf of lilies and gypsophila. In attendance on the bride were her only sister, Mrs. O. H. Tippler, of Shannon, as matron of honour, and her cousin, Miss Elfa Ellery, of Ohakea. They were attitred alike in frocks of hydrangea blue stiffened net over satin, the full skirts inset with rosettes centred with pink flowers. The full sleeves were made with puffed effect and blue satin sashes encircled their waists. They wore topknots of pink and blue flowers which had been made by Mrs. C. Free, cousin of the bride (who also made the bride's headdress) and carried bouquets of pink carnations with sprigs of blue hydrangeas. Mr. s R. Kilkally, of Taihape, supported the bridegroom as best man, the duties of groomsman being carried out by Mr. R, L. Horn, of Lower Hutt, while the ushers at the church were Messrs. O. Tippler, of Shannon, and D. Ellery, of Ohakea. At the reception following held at the Rosco rooms, many guests were entertained, the rooms being charmingly decorated with blue hydrangeas and gladioli. Mrs. Ellery, mother of the bride, wore a navy and white pin stripe ensemble with hat and shoes to tone, and her shoulder spray was of blue delphiniums. Mrs. Rolston wore a frock of brown flora marocain with brown coat, hat and shoes, her shoulder spray being of gerberas in autumn tones. Mrs. A. Jarvie, grandmother of the bride, was also present wearing a frock of black patterned wool sheer, black hat and black silk coat, .1 adn her shoulder spray was of mauve | carnations. The usual felicitations were offered and toasts hoonured, Mr. H. Ellery, uncle of the bride, proving an efficient
toastmaster. The handsome wedding cake, which was much admired, bad been made by the bride’s mother. After the reception the guests repaired to the home of Mrs. T. Ellery, aunt of the bride, to view the presents and cheques that had been showered upon the happy couple, and enjoy pleasant company on the lawn. When tho bride and bridegroom left amid shows of confetti for Napier, tho bride travelled in a model frock of saxe blue wool georgette with navy hat and accessories, also a grey fox fur.
