P.amsbo tu'.ii has been attending a Grand Lodge meeting in Wellingt-.>n. Mr. C. Thompson accompanied him to Wellington. Mr. R. Simmons is home from Dunedin University. TAIHAPE Residents of Taihape will learn with deep regret of the death of Mr. Michael O’Dea, which occurred on Thursday at Taihape after a long illness. Deceased was a well-known farmer who came to the Taihape district many years ago and settled at Winiata, where he remained until the time of his death. He was held in the highest esteem and was a staunch supporter of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the St. Patrick’s Day Sports Club. Deceased is survived by his wife and one daughter, to whom sincere and widespread sympathy will be extended in their sad loss. A son, Mr. J. O’De.a, died a short time ago. Mr. C. C. Burnett, formerly of the relieving staff of the Shell Oil Company, has arrived in Taihape to take charge of the company's depot in this town place of Mr. C. Flashoff, who leaves to-day to enter a military camp. Messrs. B. D. Jurgens and C. Flashoff, of Taihape, who have enlisted in the second echelon of the Special Military Force, left Taihape early this morning to go into camp at Trentham. J. Little won the 100 yards handicap at the Bulls sports on Wednesday, while H. Watson was second in the 220 yards handicap. Miss P. McCarty won the ladies’ 100 yards and also the ladies’ 75 yards. Miss E. Watson gained second place in the ladies’ 75 yards handicap.
