OHINGAITI W.D.F.U.
MONTHLY MEETING HELD SUCCESSFUL ROSE SHOW The monthly meeting of the Ohingaiti W.D.F.U. was held in the Memorial Hall. Mrs. Miller presided over a large attendance of members and many visitors. The meeting opened with the Creed. Apologies were received from Mrs. Henderson and Mrs. Smith. Correspondence was dealt with and a letter of thanks was received from the leper collector. Mrs. [Miller and several of the members journeyed to Feilding at the end of i October to attend the provincial meeting and the report was read and discussed. The afternoon was then given over to the Gardening Circle. The rose show proved to be a very tine effort. Some excellent blooms were exhibited, both roses and other cut flowers. Mrs. Harris and Mrs. Brice judged the flowers and were welcomed by Mrs. Miller, who voiced how delighted the Ohingaiti branch was to have Mrs. Harris and Mrs. Brice. During Mrs. Harris’ address she expressed great pleasure at oeing present and also said what a wonderful show of flowers of the children's and artistic work. Mrs. Harris said it was equal to any she had seen anywhere ■in the Dominion and congratulated ' the children on their work and also j the Gardening Circle who organised the show. Mrs. Harris also spoke of i the work of the W.D. and asked all members to keep Ihe good work go- | ing as she stressed it was most imi portant during war time. If we are organised we are ready for any task which may be assigned to us. Mrs. Brice spoke of the W.D.F.U. rest home, Kiango-Moa, which was open to all guests and should provide a good holiday for anyone al very low cost. Mrs. Harris wished everyone the compliments of the season, with the hope that, peace would soon be restored to the world. Mrs. Miller thanked Mrs. Harris and Mrs. Brice for coming to judge and also for the inspiring talk. ■ Everyone then enjoyed a. very bountiful afternoon tea.
