JUNIOR REP. MATCHES

BALMEiRSTON NORTH OFFER? Surprise was expressed yesterday over the action of the Management Committee of the Wanganui Cricket Association in declining an invitation to enter a junor team in a tournament at Palmersto North over the Christmas holiday period. This decision was made on the advice of Mr. S. Timbs, the junior advisory board representative, who intimated that a team could not be raised. Yet, inquiries among Wanganui cricket clubs yesterday, disclosed that many had received no advice whatsoever of the invitation, and five junior players were available for the match in the United Club alone. The junior competition has been of a particularly high standard this season, and there is something wanting if promising players are being deprived of valuable experience.—“ Sussex.”
