AUSTRALIAN MEAT AND BUTTER
BRITISH PURCHASE PRICES Received Oct. 30, 1.15 a.m. li SYDNEY, Oct. 29. i The Federal Minister of Commerce, i Senator McLeal, to-night announced '• the prices the British Government t were paying for Australian meat and butter. He said the meat agreemeni c would cover the 12 months ending ? September 30 next. o The prices agreed upon for the prine cipal lines are as fololw: —Lamb. “A r range,” from 7 17-64 d per lb. tn 4 29-64 d, according to quality; mutton, from 3 33-64 d to 257-64 d. Boel, frozen, first quality, ox hinds, 5 15-64 d per lb.; crops, 3 9-32 d per lb; second quality hinds, 4 19-64 d: crops 314-64 d per lb. Pig meat: First quality, 7Jd per lb; second, 7 3-16 d per lb. All prices are Australian currency f.o.b. Further provision is that 90 per cent, of the purchase price will bp paid upon shipment. There will bp no disturbance to the existing channels of distribution. c The price Britain is paying for butter will be 136 s 4id per cwt. Australian currency f.o.b. for choicest and f slightly less for lower grades. 0 The terms of the agreement relal•s ing to dairy produce other than the ■ price of butter will be announced in '• a few days.
