FROZEN MEAT TRADE
i EXPORTS FOR LAST SIX MONTHS. LARGE INCREASE SHOWN. Exports of frozen meat from New Zealand during the six months of the current season to April 30, showed increases in every class except pork. Details of the shipments and their destinations are given In the following table taken from the Meat Board’s latest return, the totals for the corresponding period of last year being shown for comparative purposes:— Frozen
In addition, 152,134 quarters of chilled beef, an increase of 15,384 quarters, and 220,191 bags of boneless beef, an increase of 61,165 bags, were exported during the six months ended April. All the chilled beef, except 393 quarters for Honolulu, and all the boneless beef, except 489 bags for Honolulu and other Pacific Islands, and 2890 bags for New York, went to the United Kingdom. LONDON MEAT MARKET. LAMB MARKET STEADIER. The Bank of New Zealand, produce department, has received the following advice from its London office as at close of business last week; There is very little inquiry for wethers. The demand and prices for ewes are steady. The market for lambs is steadier and it is thought that prices will remain steady at present quotations. The advance in price has checked the demand for chilled beef. . Wethers, light, 3 3-8 d to 4 3-8 d; , heavy, 25-8 d to 3id. Ewes, 2 l-8d to < 3 3-Bd. Lambs, 2’s, 6 5-8 d to 6 7-8 d; B’s, 6ld to 6 3-8 d; 4's, 6d to 6 l-8d; seconds. 6 3-8 d to 6 5-Bd. Chilled beef , hinds, 5d to sid; fores, 3 3-8 d to 3’ld.
