WEDDING OF INTEREST TO MARTON
STUART—DESMOND A charming afternoon wedding was celebrated at. SI. John's Anglican' Church, Feilding, recently, when 1 Isabel, younger daughter of Mr. and Mrs. P. B. Desmond, of Feilding, was married to Robert Peter, youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. A. Stuart, “Runnymeade,” Marton. The Venerable Archdeacon F. H. Petrie performed the ceremony, which was held amici a delightful setting of beautiful flowers in pastel shades of pink and blue effected by friends of the bride. The wedding music was played by Mr. rl. Crump. Entering the church with her father, the bride looked very dainty in a frock of ivory silk chiffon mounted over satin, made with a round yoke of latticed satin, full sleeves with a i satin cuff, and the skirt, which fell 1 softly from a swathed waistline, was finished with narrow frills outlining the train. A coronet of real flowers, cream carnations and rosebuds, surmounted her tulle veil, and her bouquet was also of cream carnations and rosebuds. The bridesmaids were Miss Myrtle Stuart (chief), sister of the bridegroom, Miss Irene Fitzpatrick, and Miss Jean Tappin. They were dressed alike in frocks of old ivory crinkled silk chiffon, made with square necklines and puff sleeves, finished with plaiting of the same material, and very full skirts, caught up at intervals with tiny flowers lo form scallops. The | waistlines were swathed with long' sashes of pink and green. They wore peasant wreaths of real ■ flowers on their hair, a tiny cameo of real flowers was worn at one: corner of the neckline, and the dainty j posies were of pastel-shaded flowers backed with soft green tulle. The bridegroom was attended by Mr R. Brown, of Kiwitea, as best man, and the ushers were Messrs. P. Milner and N. Fitzpatrick.
A reception was afterwards held at the Parish Hall, which was decorated with a profusion of flowers. Mr. and Mrs, Desmond received their guests, the latter wearing a navy suit with touches of white, navy hat and accessories. Her bouquet was of scarlet gerberas, pompom dahlias, and sweet, peas. Mr. and Mrs. Stuart, assisted Mrs. Stuart wearing a navy frock embroidered with bright flowers. Her hat and accessories were navy, and she carried a beautiful bouquet of dark red charm dahlias, abutilons, and polyanthus roses. Mrs. Desmond, senior, wore a black marocain frock, with chenille embroidery and black coal, and hat, the bouquet she carried being of mauve I salpuglossis and sweet peas. These last three bouquets were made and i present by Miss Perry, of Kiwitea. When the happy couple later left for Wellington and the south, the bride was wearing a frock of navy wool crepe de chine, trimmed with multi-coloured French floral braid, a navy swing coat, hat and accessories. Mr. and Mrs. Stuart will make the-r future home at Marton.
