The wedding was solemnised al. the EH ham Methodist Church recently, of Thelma Caroline, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. S. Cox, Eltham, to Ballance Reginald Spurdie. son of Mr. and Mrs. A. R. Sourdle, Puriri Street. Gonville, Wanganui. The Rev. H. Spencer officiated. The wedding was fully choral, Mr. A. T. Turner presiding at the organ. The bride, who entered the church with her father, wore a pale cream satin gown, slim fitting, and shirred in front of the bodice to form a soft fullness. The sleeves were full and tapering at the wrist. Her veil of embroidered tulle, which was lent by a cousin, was caught up with a coronet of lilies of the valley and arranged to form a train. In attendance were three bridesmaids. who wore pale blue figured organdi frocks made on slim-fitting lines, slipper length, with short puff sleeves. They wore dainty coronets of pale blue flowers and silver leaves. Silver shoes were worn. They carried Victorian bouquets. The bridesmaids were Miss M. Pinny (chief), and Misses Joyce and Mavis Cox, sisters of the bride. The bridegroom was attended by Mr. L. Trim, Wellington, as best man, and Messrs. R. and N. Ashworth as groomsmen. The reception was held at Sheehy’s tea rooms, the tables being tastefully arranged in light tones of pink and green. The parents of the bride and bridegroom received the guests. The bride’s mother wore an ensemble of red earth shade with navy hat and accessories, and carried a bouquet of autumn tints. The bridegroom’s mother wore a black silk figured coat with model hat and accessories to match. She also carried a bouquet in autumn tints. The bride’s grandmother, Mrs. Warner, Tataraimaka, and the bridegroom’s grandmother, Mrs. Webb Jones, Gonville. Wanganui, were present. The bridegroom's gift to the bride was a beautiful crystal necklace, while the bride's gift to the bridegroom was a gold signet ring. The bridegroom’s gifts to the bridesmaids were gold signet rings. The couple left amidst showers of confetti and good wishes on a tour of the North Island, the bride travelling in a navy costume’ with hat and accessories in toning effect.
