W.D.F.U.

AVERLEY BRANCH The monthly committee meeting of the W.D.F.U. was held in the Town Board room on Friday, the following being present: Mesdames Jas. Newland (president), J. H. Strachan, W. McFarlane, W. P. S. Brewer, A. M. Elmslie, W. Robertson, A. L. Elmslie, P. V. Graves, A. Morrison and Miss I. Cheyne. Apologies were received from Mesdames H. Boyer, O’Reilly, R. Hunt, Boyne, C. J. Dickie, W. Alexander, J. J. Johnston and Miss N. Elmslie. The committee voted a donation of £lO to the community chest and £3 to the Provincial Council. Final arrangements were made for the bring-and-buy afternoon and flower show to open at 1 p.m. in the Town Hall on March 10. It was decided to provide a bran tub for children and also, besides the usual floral entries, a special competition of a decorated bowl for children. The annual meeting will be held on April 21 at St. Andrew’s Hall.
