RANGIWAHIA FIRST BIRTHDAY PARTY

The Rangiwahia branch of the W.D.F.U. celebrated their first birthday at a garden party held at Mrs. R. Deroles on Wednesday of last week. The weather was gloriously fine and the spacious lawns and flowers were at their best. The president, Mrs. Price, welcomed the visitors and the business of the meeting was discussed and soon finished. A motion of condolence was passed with the relatives of the late Mr. F. H. Thompson, members standing in silence. Birthday greetings were received from Mangaweka, Ohingaiti and Apiti branches. Mrs. W. Beard conveyed Kimbolton’s best wishes and Miss McKenzie from the Rangiwahia W.l. A good and varied programme hack been arranged and commenced with a treasure hunt, which was won by Mrs. S. Diehl. Golf putting was won by Miss McKenzie, quoits by Mrs. J. Fraser, and bean throwing by Mrs. Meiklejohn. Trophies were presented to the winners. Good business was done at the market stall as did the ice cream. The birthday cake was made by Mrs. J. Thompsodi and beautifully iced by Mrs. C. Smith. During the afternoon tea Mrs. Price introduced Mrs. Harris, provincial president, who had come from Turakina to be present at the party. She was called upon to cut the cake, after which Mrs. Harris gave an address on “Kaianga Moe," the W.D.F.U. rest home. One and all agreed that a most enjoyable afternoon had been spent. Members are reminded that the next monthly meeting will be held at Mrs. G. Rose’s residence.
