WANGANUI SENIOR GRADE COMPETITION OUTRIGHT WIN FOR UNITED TECHNICAL OLD BOYS BEATEN Sensational batting collapses were the features of the Wanganui Cricket I Association’s senior grade matches on I Saturday, no fewer than four out 'of ■ five innings on Cook’s Gardens realising less than 100. The .surprise victory of the day was '.hat of Technical College over Techlical Old Boys, the championship leaders, After compiling a first innings i total of 97, Technical College, due to brilliant bowling by D. McCarthy, five tor 24, and P. Emosi, four for 18, dismissed their opponents for 66, to register their first win this season by 31 runs. United's outright win over Marist provided the other sensation. Against the deadly bowling of G. A. McDougal, six for 20, and R. I. Sewell, three for two, Marist could compile only 25 in the first innings—the lowest total this season. In reply, United knocked up 146, and dismissed Marist in the second strike for 78, scoring an eightpoint, win by 42 runs. The match on the Collegiate ground resulted in a draw, Wanganui making 171 in the first innings, and Collegiate losing nine wickets for 147 before the close of play.
