RANGITIKEI CRICKET MARTON v. OLD BOYS Old Boys lost their chance of winning the championship when they lost to Marton on the County Ground, largely owing to defections of regular players. After a bad start Old Boys were batting well to the sixth wicket, which fell for 137, but the tail failed, and Marton were left with two hours in which to make 150 for a win. This they accomplished in the last over before stumps were to have been drawn, with seven wickets in hand. It was a most exciting finish, with Sladden using the long handle. Louden played soundly, but Smiin was dropped when only 10. Details: — Old Boys. First Innings. C. S. Beechey, c Smith, b Louden 4 M. Wysocki,” b Parkes 12 B.
