“Man” was the subject of the lessonsermon in all Churches of Christ, Scientist, on Sunday, March 5. The golden text was Eccl. 2:26, “God giveth to a man that is good in his sight wisdom, and knowledge, and joy.” Among the citations which comprised the lesson-sermon were the following from the Bible: “What is man. that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man that thou visitest him? For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour. Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet.” (Psal. 8:4-4). Also the following passages from the Christian Science textbook, “Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures,” by Mary Baker Eddy: “God and man are not the same, but in the order of divine science, God and man coexist and are eternal. God is the parent mind, and man is God’s spiritual offspring. Man is the family name of all ideas—the sons and daughters of God.” (pp. 336 515).
